Question about Sugar addiction

Here is a question I received that I thought may be a popular one and can benefit you.

Is there a scientific reason humans desire something sweet after a meal or is it just tradition?

Good question. I totally think about this every day. Yes there definately is a reason. Sugar fits into a category called Neurotoxins. These are substances such as refined sugar, salt, msg's etc. that are added to food and are specifically designed to make us addicted to it. It does this by sending messages to the brain that this food is good. So we get a good feeling throughout our bodies just the same is if we smoked, drank alcohol, have sex, or did drugs.. It is just another drug that we can become addicted to. Our brain then connects sugar to feeling good.
SOOO.. if one is used to having sweets after a meal, this tradition will become and addiction. If you were to go a couple of weeks without any sweets, or if you were not raised in this way then you would not desire sweets after a meal.
If you are interested, I have many healthy and natural dessert recipes on my web/blog that will not give the addictive qualities of refined sugar and the like.
Hope this helps. Have a great day.

Wake Up and Don’t Smell the Coffee. Dangers of Coffee

This is exerpts from another great article by George Malkumus . This is one of the hardest things to give up when transferring to another diet but, as you’ll read, will make you feel a lot better.

Let me preface this week’s article by saying that
everything we place into our body through our mouth,
affects the health of our physical body - either for good
or for bad. Thus, if we desire good health, we MUST
carefully consider what we place into our mouth.

What most people do not realize is that almost every
physical problem they experience through life, other than
accidents of course, is CAUSED by something THEY placed
into their MOUTH.

In this Health Tip we are going to turn our attention to
NICOTINE, a non-food substance that DOES A BODY “BAD.”

Let’s begin by turning to Webster’s Dictionary for a
definition of “Nicotine”: “a colorless, oily, water-
soluble, HIGHLY TOXIC liquid alkaloid, C10H14N2, found in
tobacco and valued as an insecticide.”

Please note the words “HIGHLY TOXIC”. Again we turn to
Webster for the definition of another word, “TOXIC”:
“acting as or having the effect of a POISON; poisonous, a
TOXIC DRUG.”

SOME OF THE THINGS SMOKING WILL DO FOR AND TO YOU
*Nearly 500,000 (one-half million) people die prematurely
each year from tobacco-related diseases. This accounts for
a greater number of deaths than those caused by alcohol,
cocaine, crack, heroin, AIDS, homicides, suicides, car
crashes and fires COMBINED!

*Tobacco use is the Number One cause of preventable deaths
in our country, while one in every five deaths can be
attributed to smoking. That is 20% of all deaths in our
country could be prevented, if only people would stop
smoking.

*Tobacco use shortens the user’s life by an average of 21
years.

*Tobacco is a highly toxic and addicting drug! The U. S.
Government has issued a statement that tobacco is every bit
as addicting as heroin. (Smokeless tobacco is every bit as
addictive and dangerous to the body as is tobacco that is
smoked.)

*The American Lung Association states that tobacco
contains over 500 known toxins, the worst being nicotine,
tars, and carbon monoxide. These cytoplasmic poisons are
drawn into the lungs and absorbed into the blood stream
with every puff on the cigarette by the smoker.

*It is not unusual for a cigarette smoker to look a good
10 to 15 years older than others in the same age bracket.

WHY DO PEOPLE SMOKE?

Most cigarette smokers begin their addiction with the very
first cigarette! That first cigarette usually takes place
as an adolescent, often because of peer pressure, a desire
to act grown up, or not wanting to be different from the
crowd.

However, while that first cigarette often causes violent
coughing, if the person continues to smoke, it isn’t long
before the coughing subsides and the drug nicotine,
contained within the smoke of that cigarette, starts
bringing a feeling of pleasure. Not realizing that nicotine
is among the most powerful of all known stimulant drugs,
smoking quickly becomes an addiction.

No one has ever become a nicotine addict who refused that
first cigarette (or chew)! But a non-smoker who lights up
more than 2 cigarettes in a row has only a 15% chance of
remaining a non-smoker. In other words, a person who lights
up just 2 cigarettes in a row has an 85% chance of becoming
addicted.

Eighty percent of men and sixty percent of women smokers
average at least a pack of 20 cigarettes a day - that’s
over one cigarette per waking hour. Heavy smokers need a
fix every 20 to 30 minutes - and often smoke 2-3 packs a
day.

The primary reason people continue to smoke, even after
they have learned how harmful smoking is to their body, is
because of a biochemical ADDICTION.

The curse of this addicting drug is that it makes the
smoker feel good as long as they are taking the drug into
their body and rotten when they stop. When a person tries
to stop the nicotine (drug) intake, and as the body
attempts to free itself of the drug, the body, because of
the addiction, DEMANDS more.

If a cigarette is not smoked within a given amount of
time, that person can begin to experience any of the
following drug withdrawal symptoms: nervousness,
drowsiness, anxiety, headaches, energy loss, sweating,
hostility, heart palpitations, cramps, tremors, and/or
irrationality. Not wanting to suffer through these
withdrawal symptoms, 85% of smokers who attempt to quit,
fail!

Besides the ADDICTION, other reasons people continue to
smoke include: stimulation, relaxation, tension coping,
habit, biochemical addiction, and possibly even an
unconscious need for self-destruction or possibly even
punishment due to a poor self-image. But for whatever
reason, cigarette smoking is one of the most destructive,
addictive habits a person can ever enslave himself or
herself to!

Of the 50,000,000 (fifty million) Americans who smoke,
between 33% and 50% of them will die, SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY
SMOKE. One pack a day smokers are twice as likely to die
from lung cancer, bronchitis, emphysema, and heart disease
than nonsmokers! 91% of lung cancer patients die within 5
years!

The average, potentially FATAL “cancer stick dose” is
125,000 cigarettes! Smoking just one pack a day for 17
years adds up to approximately 125,000 cigarettes (6,250
packs), costing approximately $20,000. If a person starts
smoking at age 13 and lives long enough to reach age 63,
they will have put a match to 365,000 cigarettes, at a cost
of over $60,000 dollars, producing nothing more than TOXIC
SMOKE!

Women on birth control pills who smoke, run an even higher
risk of developing hardening of the arteries, blood
clotting, and heart disease than those women who do not
smoke. Pregnant women who smoke endanger the health of the
unborn fetus through “passive smoking.”

The Rest of the Story on Problems with Eating Refined Grains in Diet

6. REFINED GRAINS ARE EXCESSIVELY STARCHY

Refined grains are one of the starchiest foods consumed by
humans and present an overwhelmingly difficult task for the
digestive system. Refined grains also cause mucus
formation. Since 1965, scientists have repeatedly linked
high gluten consumption, coming from REFINED grains, to
learning disorders and schizophrenia. (Those with gluten
intolerance cannot handle whole grains that contain gluten
either.)

7. REFINED GRAINS CONTAIN HIGH AMOUNTS OF GLUTEN

Gluten is the "grayish, sticky component of wheat flour
and other grain flours, composed mainly of the proteins
gladin and glutenin" (Webster)
Not all grains contain gluten. Examples of those that do
not contain gluten include millet, amaranth and quinoa.

REFINED grains such as wheat, which is exceptionally high
in gluten, can produce many physical and mental problems,
in addition to celiac disease, which many are aware of.
Problems linked to high gluten intake can include: asthma,
allergies, gluten intolerance, digestive disturbances,
yeast infections, various mucus and congestive
disturbances, several types of arthritis, and even chronic
overeating. (Source: "Grain Damage" by Douglas Graham, D.C.)

8. REFINED GRAINS LEAD TO ADDICTION AND WEIGHT GAIN

REFINED grains are addictive! We have found that when a
person decides to adopt The Hallelujah Diet, REFINED sugar,
along with REFINED grains, are the two most difficult items
to eliminate from the diet - much more difficult than
eliminating animal source foods. WHY? - Because these
sugars have a very powerful addictive influence upon the
body - as powerful as nicotine and alcohol for some.

Another thing we need to remember concerning REFINED
grains is that whenever a food has been fragmented, it is
nutrient-deficient and always results in lower levels of
nutrition and health. This is the case concerning REFINED
grain products. Because REFINED grains do not provide
satisfaction at the cellular level, the body continues to
be hungry - continuing to seek adequate nutrients to
satisfy nutritional needs. This leads to overeating.

Sadly, all these REFINED foods have produced a nation of
overfed, undernourished, predominantly overweight people.
The Hallelujah Diet by comparison, produces a people who
are properly nourished while at the same time consuming a
much lower volume of food. The Hallelujah Diet contributes
to a person being of ideal weight, along with possessing a
healthy, strong physical body, a sound mind, and an
uncompromised immune system.

9. REFINED GRAINS COMPROMISE THE IMMUNE SYSTEM

We need to remember that the immune system was built into
each of our physical bodies to protect us from the germs,
viruses, and bacteria of this world. Our immune system is
our first line of defense! REFINED grains, which convert
very rapidly to sugar, along with REFINED sugar, suppress
the immune system, keeping it from being able to perform
its God given tasks.

Does this not give us a clue as to why so many people
experience infections, colds, the flu, along with other flu
like symptoms, and more? Since this editor adopted a
predominantly raw plant based diet, free of any REFINED
grains or sugars over 32 years ago, I have not experienced
any infections, the flu, or even a cold, not even one time.

Does not the Bible tell us that we will reap what we sow
in Galatians 6:7: "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for
whatsoever a man [or woman] soweth, that shall he [or she]
also reap."

10. REFINED GRAINS CAUSE MANY OTHER PHYSICAL PROBLEMS

Finally, refined grains are associated with not only
malnutrition and decreased resistance to disease, mental
instability, and being overweight, but REFINED grains
impact our quality of life. REFINED grains cause or
increase the severity of PMS, decrease cognitive or
intellectual function, especially in children, and along
with REFINED sugar also contribute to our current epidemic
of heart disease, and so much more.

Following is just a partial list of other health problems
related to the intake of REFINED grains: Acne, addiction to
drugs including caffeine and alcohol, anxiety, behavior
problems, binge eating, bloating, bone loss, Candidiasis,
depression, difficulty concentrating, eczema, edema,
emotional problems, fatigue, food cravings, hormonal
problems, hyperactivity, insomnia, mental illness, mood
swings, premature aging, psoriasis, and the list goes on
and on.

IN CONCLUSION:

Almost every negative influence REFINED sugar has upon the
body, REFINED GRAINS offer an equally negative influence.
If we want to have a strong healthy body, free of physical
problems, we MUST eliminate not only REFINED sugars from
our diet, but also REFINED GRAINS!

REFINED GRAINS PROMOTE EMOTIONAL INSTABLILTY

We continue our study on Grains with some more of the article from last week's health tip by George Malkamus, founder and owner of Hallelujah Acres.

-----------------------------

Sadly, studies reveal a strong link between juvenile and
adult criminal offenses not only to REFINED sugar, but also
REFINED grains. Similar research reveals a link between
mental illness and sugar derived from these REFINED
sources:

Hypoglycemic reactions, for the very sensitive consumer,
promote extreme irrationality, emotional instability, and
often times aggressiveness. Recent studies reveal that
sugar, coming from both REFINED sugars and REFINED grains,
may be as involved in mental illness, divorce, and crime as
alcohol has been found to be.

These REFINED grains and sugars, also play a significant
roll in the bad behavior of children. This bad behavior
often leads to a child being diagnosed with ADD or ADHD.
And the doctor, rather than telling the parent they need to
remove the cause of the child's problem (REFINED sugars and
REFINED grains), prescribes a drug that can have
potentially devastating consequences.

Through the years, I have received some wonderful
testimonies from mothers reporting that after they removed
REFINED grains, along with REFINED sugar from their child's
diet, and placed them on a basically raw plant-based diet,
the child became a totally different and well-behaved
child.

Depression is also one of the most rapidly growing
problems in our society, and RIFINED sugars, along with
REFINED grains, are a major contributing factor!

REFINED GRAINS CREATE BLOOD SUGAR DISORDERS

Another Article from George about Grains.

When WHOLE grains are processed, something very serious,
with potentially devastating health consequences, happens
to that grain. In order to understand this, we need to
recall what REFINED GRAINS are: A REFINED grain is a WHOLE
grain that has been stripped of its outer shell (fiber) and
its germ (source of nutrients), leaving only the endosperm
(embryo sack).

During processing, REFINED grains go through a heating,
mechanical, and chemical processing, during which vitamins,
proteins, fats, enzymes, in fact, almost all nutrients, as
well as the fiber (outer shell of the grain), are removed,
leaving practically nothing but pure white, pure 'naked
calories,' pure refined carbohydrate.

When you read the word "enriched" on the label of a
REFINED grain product, it means the manufacturer, after
removing the germ from the WHOLE grain, which contained
almost all the nutrients, has attempted to replace some of
the nutrients lost in the processing with chemical
additives.

Also, when a person consumes a REFINED grain, because the
fiber has been removed, a high percentage of the starch,
(which is practically all that is left after the fiber and
germ have been removed), is very quickly broken down into
simple sugars.

These simple sugars from REFINED grain hit the blood
stream almost as rapidly as REFINED sugars do. Dealing with
all of this sugar exhausts the pancreas and/or adrenals,
and produces the same diabetic/hypoglycemic reactions we
learned about in Health Tips #549 and #550.

Lifetime consumption of REFINED sugar is approximately
10,000 pounds per person, and the lifetime intake of
REFINED grains, which converts to sugar very rapidly, is
approximately 13,000 pounds. Friends, can you not now
better understand why the people of today suffer with a
multitude of blood sugar problems.

This incredibly high intake of REFINED sugar and REFINED
grains, grains that convert very rapidly to sugar, is
devastating the people. This high sugar intake is causing a
myriad of psychological problems, dealt with by guess what -
DRUGS, which only exacerbate the problem. This high sugar
intake also packs on the pounds, the primary cause of
nearly 70% of the population being overweight, and an ever-
increasing percentage of our population becoming obese.

Prior to the year 1900, practically no REFINED sugars or
REFINED grains were consumed in America or any other place
in the world, and for sure, there were no REFINED sugars,
or REFINED grains in the diet God gave Adam and Eden in the
Garden of Eden in the Genesis 1:29 diet. Nor will you find
any REFINED sugar or REFINED grains in The Hallelujah Acres
Diet.

Because The Hallelujah Diet contains no REFINED sugars or
REFINED grains, it is the best weight loss program in the
world, while at the same time, because of the elimination
of these REFINED products, it helps those with emotional,
physiological, and depression problems recover.

Cow's Milk Linked to Type One Diabetes

Source: Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine -
5/12/2008:

"A new study adds more evidence that cow's milk proteins
trigger Type 1 diabetes. Marcia Goldfarb of Anatek-EP, a
protein research laboratory in Portland, Maine, reports
having found antibodies of bovine beta-lactoglobulin in the
serum of children with diabetes. Individuals without
diabetes did not have the antibody. Type 1 diabetes is
believed to be caused when antibodies destroy the insulin-
producing pancreatic cells. Several studies have suggested
that cow's milk proteins may trigger the production of
these dangerous antibodies... "

This recent research confirms what Dr. T. Colin Campbell,
PhD, had to say on this same subject in his book The China
Study, on page 187:

"In the case of Type 1 diabetes, the immune system attacks
the pancreas cells responsible for producing insulin. This
devastating, incurable disease strikes children, creating a
painful and difficult experience for young families. What
most people don't know, though, is that there is strong
evidence that this disease is linked to diet and, more
specifically to dairy products. The ability of cow's milk
protein to initiate Type 1 diabetes is well documented."

EDITORS COMMENTS: Dr. Campbell's book devotes 8 pages to
explaining the relationship of cow's milk to Type 1
diabetes, concluding with the following: "Human breast milk
is the perfect food for an infant, and one of the most
dangerous things a mother can do is to substitute the milk
of the cow for her own [breast milk]."

For an in-depth study of the relationship of all animal
sourced foods to human physical problems, I strongly
suggest you obtain a copy of Dr. Campbell's book, The China
Study. Thoroughly scientifically documented, this 417 page
book will give you the ammunition you need to convince the
biggest skeptic, or if you personally have any doubts of
the relationship of animal source foods to disease, this
book is a must read. Contact me For the Book if you'd Like.

Discovering Inflamation: What is it? Causes it? and How to Prevent it?

I Read an article last night that I thought I would share with you. As dancers we may often experience inflammation. So have a read to find out what you can do to naturally help this problem without having to pop the pain killers.

The Definition of inflammation, according to About.com is:
An immune response to injury or infection causing pain, redness, heat, and swelling in the affected area. Heat from inflammation is produced because of increased circulation as white blood cells and chemicals are rushed to protect us from foreign invaders, allergens, toxins or infections. Common allergens that produce inflammation are pollens, gluten in wheat, cow milk, and yeast from baked goods, beer and wine. Inflammation can also result from injury. It may create unpleasant sensations such as swollen joints that feel warm, pain, stiffness, fever, chills, fatigue, headaches and muscle stiffness.

Many times we cannot feel inflammation in our system. Though we may not be aware of a low grade inflammation present in our bodies, it may be taking a serious toll on our well being. An over abundance of inflammation in our body can lead to Alzheimer’s, arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease and prostatitis. One of the most common diseases associated with inflammation is irritable bowel syndrome. Another prevalent disease is asthma.

The most important area of our body to keep inflammation in check is our digestive track. Our gut is most often where we first make contact with foreign invaders. Our stomach and intestine lining is what protects us from foreign toxins and bad bacteria. When the lining is weakened, toxins and germs seep through the lining into the body and the immune system must kick into high gear. Your immune system screams for help, thus producing inflammation. As germs and toxins leak into our body from a failed digestive lining, illnesses may develop at other places throughout the body.

There are many things we can do to stop inflammation. Eat foods high in fiber. Refrain from refined sugars and grains. Eliminate foods that are high in arachidonic acid such as red meats, egg yolks and shellfish. Get plenty of omega-3 fatty acids. Avoid drugs and antibiotics if possible. Exercise. Rest. Eat anti-inflammatory foods such as ginger, garlic, onions, parsley, cayenne and citrus fruits. The spice turmeric helps to fight inflammation. Curcumin is derived from turmeric. Because fresh turmeric only contains 4% curcumin, the best way to receive the anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric is to take a curcumin supplement. Please read the information in this newsletter concerning the brand new Hallelujah Acres New Generation Bio-Curcumin.

There are healthy alternatives to Advil and Aleve. Choose a healthy lifestyle so you can calm the heat of inflammation.

Grains (especiall refined) are acidic and must be eaten sparingly

GRAIN DOES A BODY "BAD" (The Dangers of Refined Grains -
Part 3)

This week we are going to continue sharing the dangers of
refined grains, as well as the potential dangers of
consuming even too many whole grains:

(4) MOST GRAINS ARE ACIDIC

The physical body we each possess was designed by God to
consume predominantly ALKALINE foods, and to maintain an
ALKALINE environment, for both health and survival. Some of
the reasons an alkaline environment is critical to our
health are: (1) In an alkaline environment disease has
great difficulty proliferating. (2) Bone structure is kept
strong. (3) The alkalinity of the blood must be maintained
in order to sustain our very life.

Thus, in order to maintain our health or to overcome
disease, protect our body from disease, maintain a sound
bone structure, and provide sufficient ALKALINITY within
the blood to sustain life, it is of vital importance that
our basic body chemistry be kept ALKALINE!

All foods consumed go through a digestive process where
the food is "burned," leaving a resulting ash. This ash can
be either NEUTRAL, ACID, or ALKALINE, depending primarily
on the mineral composition of the food. Most foods of
animal origin are acidic and leave an ACID ash. Most fruits
and vegetables are ALKALINE, and leave an ALKALINE ash.
Most grains leave an ACID ash.

When too many ACID foods are consumed, with animal sourced
foods and soda pop, (as well as the consuming of too many
refined ACID grains), being the biggest culprits, the body
becomes ACIDIC. The blood especially, considers an ACID
environment so intolerable, that for survival purposes the
body seeks for a means of neutralizing all this ACIDITY.

The body makes every effort to maintain a pH in the blood
of approximately 7.4 on the pH scale, which is slightly
ALKALINE. On the pH scale, 7.0 is considered neutral, while
everything above 7.0 is ALKALINE, and everything below 7.0
is ACID.

The pH of the blood must be kept ALKALINE for survival! If
the pH of the blood becomes ACID, by dropping to a pH of
6.9 or lower, the body goes into a coma and dies.

CALCIUM IS A VERY ALKALIZING MINERAL

In a normal healthy body, there is a very plentiful supply
of calcium, a mineral greatly used by the body for numerous
functions. Calcium is also a very ALKALIZING mineral, and
is found in greatest supply in the bones. When the blood
finds its pH tending ACID (dropping below 7.4 on the pH
scale), the result of consuming too many ACID foods, the
body automatically, and in an effort to maintain and
sustain life, seeks to neutralize that ACIDITY.

Since calcium is a very ALKALIZING mineral, the body will
start drawing calcium from the bones in an effort to
neutralize the ACIDITY. As the ACIDITY of the body
increases, ever increasing amounts of calcium are removed
from the bones to neutralize the ACIDITY.

This removal of calcium from the bones produces what the
medical community calls "Low Bone Density", or
"Osteoporosis," resulting in an ever-increasing risk of
bone fracture. Thus it is imperative that we maintain a
good supply of plant source calcium within the body, so
that we can keep our bone structure strong and resistant to
fracture. Calcium supplementation will not do the job, but
can be accomplished by making sure that the foods we eat
contain a proper ratio between ALKALINE and ACID.

THE IDEAL RATIO OF ALKALINE TO ACID IS 4 TO 1

The ideal ratio of ALKALINE to ACID is approximately 4 TO
1 - that is four parts (80%) ALKALINE to one part (20%)
ACID. When this ratio is maintained, the body has strong
resistance to disease as well as bone fractures, but when
the diet is overly ACID, disease resistance diminishes, and
bone density decreases.

To overcome disease and low bone density, the greater the
amount of ALKALIZING foods in the diet, the faster the
recovery! ALKALIZING foods neutralize the ACID, strengthen
the immune system, while rebuilding and strengthening the
bones.

The Hallelujah Acres Diet is primarily a raw ALKALINE
diet, which produces and maintains an ALKALINE environment
within the body! Some of the most ALKALIZING foods in The
Hallelujah Acres Diet are BarleyMax, carrot juice, and the
abundance of green vegetables the diet contains. These raw
and ALKALIZING foods build up a healthy reserve of ALKALINE
minerals, especially calcium, which are ready on demand to
neutralize any excess ACIDITY, when too many ACID foods are
consumed.

When the ratio of 4 to 1, ALKALINE to ACID drops to just 3
to 1, health can be seriously challenged! Unbelievably, the
average person of today, on the typical SAD meat based,
highly ACID diet, is consuming a diet that may have a ratio
as low as a 1 to 4, ALKALINE to ACID, or even lower.

The human physical body can only function properly, and
sustain health and a sound bone structure that is resistant
to disease and fracture, when there are adequate ALKALINE
reserves, and the ACID to ALKALINE ratio in the body's
blood are in proper balance.

Below are tables of common foods, grouped into both ALKALI-
FORMING and ACID FORMING:

ALKALI-FORMING FOODS

Alfalfa Grass Apple
Barley Grass Apricot
Wheat Grass Banana
Spinach Cantaloupe
Kale Dates
Collard Greens Figs
Lettuce Peaches
Broccoli Grapes
Cauliflower Raisins
Cabbage Watermelon
Carrot Almonds
Beet Brazil Nuts
Celery Coconut
Cucumber Millet
Buckwheat

ACID FORMING FOODS

Beef Wheat & most grains
Chicken Rice
Pork Lentils
Veal Most Nuts (except almonds)
Fish *MOST ACID FORMING
Eggs Coffee: pH 4
Milk Beer: pH 2.5
Cheese Coca-Cola: pH 2

From the chart above, you can readily see that most grains
are ACID forming, with the exception of millet and
buckwheat, which are considered ALKALINE. You can also see
that wheat is a highly ACIDIC grain, the grain that is
consumed in greatest quantity in our society, and
especially in its refined form. Sprouted seeds and whole
grains become more ALKALINE in the process of sprouting.

Almost all vegetable and grass juices are HIGHLY ALKALINE!
The most ALKALINE juices are the juices from grasses
(BarleyMax), green vegetables, and spinach, along with
carrots, beets (especially beet tops), and celery. On The
Hallelujah Acres Diet, the abundance of juices and the
abundance of raw fruits and vegetables in the diet, helps
the body maintain a predominantly ALKALINE environment,
while the cooked whole grains, seeds and nuts, provide the
20% ACID foods needed to maintain the desired 4 to 1 ratio
of ALKALINE to ACID.

IN CONCLUSION:

If we want to sustain life, maintain our health and keep a
sound bone structure, or recover from health challenges and
low bone density, it is imperative that we nourish our body
with a predominantly raw ALKALINE plant sourced diet, a
diet with a ratio of approximately 80/20, ALKALINE to ACID,
being the ideal.

The Hallelujah Acres diet also provides a ratio that is
approximately 85% raw and 15% cooked. Almost all of the raw
fruits and vegetables are ALKALINE, while allowing 15% of
the diet to be in the cooked form. This cooked portion
includes some ACID foods, especially in the form of cooked
whole grains, and raw seeds and nuts.

Thus the Hallelujah Acres diet, because of the highly
ALKALIZING foods with which it is comprised, keeps the
bones and immune system strong, while helping a person
recover from health challenges and low bone density. But
most important of all, is that on The Hallelujah Acres Diet
the pH of the blood is easily kept in a healthy, life
sustaining, ALKALINE state.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The use of pH strips to determine the
ACIDITY or ALKALINITY of saliva and/or urine are basically
worthless and can be the cause of unnecessary concern. The
pH of both urine and saliva can vary from ACID to ALKALINE
depending on time of day, foods consumed, and other
factors, and thus using pH strips to determine ACIDITY or
ALKALINITY are an unreliable means of determining physical
problems or even body pH.

Discovering Who You Are From the Inside Out! Part 3: Video Summary

In this last segment we discover how to find peace in relationships by understanding the present moment. Most of the time it is our own feelings and emotions that can escalate arguements and disagreements. Try looking within and feeling what ever the moment brings.

Walter Gets Rid of Major Ailments with Diet Change at 79

The GOOD NEWS occurred five years ago at the age of 79, when I heard your
message, 'You Don't Have to be Sick(SM),' and I adopted The Diet. I am now 84 years of age. When I adopted The Diet five years ago, I was in very bad health, with some major ailments - including angina, prostate troubles, and colon cancer. After submitting to
prostate surgery, they informed me I also had prostate cancer and wanted to give me 7 weeks of chemotherapy treatments. I told the doctors 'NO', that I wasn't going to
give them permission to do that! Rather, I went on The Diet, and today, five years after making the diet change and at the age of 84, I have no angina pain and no more cancer. I attribute my healing to God, and the healthy trinity of BarleyMax®, Carrot Juice, and Fiber Cleanse. Walter H., Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada

Discovering Who You Are From the Inside Out! Part 2: We are Found as The River of Peace

In our line of business we often work contract work. A few months here then pack the bags to another destination. There may be a lot of traveling involved. In these cases the mind often reacts to the change by labeling it bad. Our mind likes order where we have a place to call home and a routine. Change is hard and can often cause panic. Change is inevitable in life and is actually only strange or difficult because our minds have made us believe it is. Nothing in the universe is out of order and every situation, relationship, and event is significant in the totality of the higher order. Who you are is part of an ever changing and ever evolving consciousness. To flow along that river with more ease, become aware of how the mind reacts to change and try to accept the moment instead of allowing anxiety and fear of the future creep in.
The future, the past, are all content of the mind. Content in this world also includes objects, feelings, emotions. So are these actually real? Well they are partly real, the are relative. When waking up in the morning we often remember a dream we may have had. It was not absolutely real but there must have been some element of reality in it or else we would not remember it. So we can now say that there is a sense of duality in life. Absolute reality and relative reality. The dream and the dreamer. But who are we? Neither. The dream is the content in this world or the formation of energy. The dreamer is the person who dreams and is made up of more content and form in body and mind. Who we truly are is the support behind the dream and the dreamer. That which makes the dream possible. It is exciting to realize that we can actually wake up in this relative dream we call life. When we wake up in our existence we are becoming conscious of life. We are truly becoming who we are.

Discovering Who You Are From the Inside Out! Part 1: Abundance is Found In the Inside

So far we have looked mostly at who we are NOT. So now it is time to really put focus on this and, through doing so, discover who we truly are. When asked that question “who are you?” descriptions of your name, an occupation, a child, a parent or what ever else you identify with may come to mind. Is this all that you are? Actually these are just things about you. This last section will help us to start to know ourselves rather than know about ourselves.
A surprising feature of who we are is that we are full of abundance. The problem is that we usually look to things outside of ourselves for the sense of abundance. We want more money, acceptance, or status. Actually, these things are already in us because, as we have already seen, we are one with all things through the present moment of consciousness. Something to work on this week is when you feel like the world is withholding something from you, try to give that thing away to someone else. If the world is holding wealth from you, try giving to a charity or someone in need. A good motto to remember is outflow determines inflow. Jesus says the more you give the more you receive. We are abundance and it is our purpose to share this wealth with the universe.

Donna finds Diet to Cure all Disease

The following was sent in by Donna L., who lives in Longboat Key,
Florida:

“Before adopting The Hallelujah Acres Diet, I had been on
a high protein diet for over a year, a diet I had adopted
after reading a book about different blood types. My diet
consisted of mostly meat, I was addicted to sugar and ice
cream, and drank a liter bottle of Diet Pepsi each day.
While on that high protein diet I developed headaches,
foggy thinking, painful joints, esophageal spasms, heart
palpitations, and itchy, dry skin. I also felt depressed
and overwhelmed. Unbelievably, I never connected my
symptoms to my diet. I prayed for guidance, and soon God
directed me to a vegan diet and I started working out with
a personal trainer at the YMCA in Sarasota, Florida. When I
arrived early for one of my sessions, I went to a sitting
area to wait, where I found a table with a pile of
magazines and newspapers of all sorts. In the pile was a
copy of The Hallelujah Acres Diet and Lifestyle magazine. I
flipped through the pages and was strongly impressed to
pick it up and take it home, but then chastised myself by
saying to myself, ‘I can’t take that, it would be
stealing!’ Finally I asked at the desk if I could take it
home and was told that would be all right. I read the
Hallelujah Acres magazine eagerly. At the time, I was a
vegan, but ate mostly cooked foods. I began eating more and
more raw foods because I was impressed with their taste and
how good the raw foods made me feel. I have now been eating
a diet consisting of approximately 95% raw foods since
January 2008 and all those physical problems that had
developed on the high protein meat diet have disappeared
and as I approach my 57th birthday I feel better than I did
in my 30s, maybe even in my 20s. I feel energized, excited
about life, and vibrantly healthy.

Recipe How To Make a Blended Salad

HOW TO MAKE A BLENDED SALAD *****

Vegetables are the most nutrient dense foods available to
man! Unfortunately, the nutrients in vegetables are locked
inside sealed compartments called cells, and the human
digestive tract does not possess an enzyme capable of
dissolving these tough shells. As a result, unless a person
breaks these cells open before swallowing, little to none
of the nutrients can be released.

The better a person chews these vegetables the more
nutrients are made available, but sadly, most people do not
chew their vegetables well. This is where a high-speed
blender, such as a Vita Mix excels. When you blend
vegetables in a high-speed blender, maximum nutrients are
released.

Rhonda and this editor used to consume a HUGE vegetable
salad each evening, made with lots of whole vegetables, but
in recent years we have switched almost totally to blending
these salads after we learned how many more nutrients were
made available when we blended our salads before eating.

Following is how we make a blended salad for the two of
us: First we place several tablespoons of our favorite
salad dressing (healthy) into our Vita Mix blender. Then we
add anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 cup of distilled water along
with
some all purpose herbs and dehydrated onions. If we have
organic tomatoes and/or cucumbers, the liquid can be
reduced to acquire the consistency desired.

Next we add a half to a whole avocado depending on size, a
floret of both broccoli and cauliflower, a large stalk of
celery cut in one inch pieces, a quarter to a half of a cut-
up carrot depending on size. Finally, a large handful of
spinach (or kale. The lid is placed on the blender, and all
vegetables pushed down with the tamper and blended until a
fine puree has been acquired. If you are not able to get
the blender to puree, slowly add more water until all
vegetables have been drawn into the blade.

Note: If you do not have a high-speed blender with a
tamper, instead of cutting up your stalk of celery, use the
celery stalk to push the veggies into the blades, and pulse
until all veggies have been pureed.

Introducing the Painbody: Getting Past Emotions (Part II)

The good news is that we can go beyond our egos and pain bodies. This is done through awareness which pushes us into higher consciousness that is who we really are. When the pain body creeps up in us we can become aware of it by noticing how it feels.
The pain body is surprisingly not much different than a chair or the glass you are holding. These objects are what we call “matter” and are made up of atoms and molecules or energy. Energy is in everything and is the same in all things. The only thing that changes is it’s form. It can be a cup, a tree, and even a human. All of our organs, cells and tissues are a form of energy. Although energy is in all things, it operates at different frequencies in everything. Even our emotions are another form of energy operating at a certain frequency. Becoming aware of this frequency is our goal now.

When the pain body creeps up, we can become aware of an energy change in our body. If someone triggers our pain body by criticizing, making fun, or blaming us, we may sense what we call anger in the body. This is just a word that we have given to describe the vibrations of the frequency of energy in our body. Anger, however is just vibration and can be felt at a level before the brain tries to figure out what it is.

So that is the way we can break free. When ever the pain body is triggered try to be aware of the sensations that the body feels in that moment. It may feel painful, sad, or a host of other emotions but living in that moment will help it to dissolve. This is the way of rising above our emotions and truly being more than form or matter on the earth. We are one with our creator.

How does this look in the dancer and the dance world? Instead of trying to rely on our bodies, emotions, and mind to perform we then become one with the greater power. Actually we become one with perfection itself. You may call it God, Buddha, The Great Creator, or better yet nothing. Words or names cannot describe this power of consciousness that is available to us when we let go of our pain bodies and egos and except the present moment.

Introducing the Painbody: Getting Past Emotions (Part 1)

Along with thought life, there is another factor which can either hinder or lift the work we do. In our work as dancers we can really deepen our connection with our audience by sharing the emotions inside us. Emotions, however, can be very tricky work and needs to be looked at.

Emotions inside us are also there from the past. Everyone has experienced painful, exciting, and a host of many other emotions from big events in our lives. These are normal but the ego can rear it’s ugly little head and turn these emotions into chains that are very hard to break free from. The ego is defined as identification with things. Emotions are simply things too. They are not the present moment, they are from the past. This is what we will call the Pain Body. The Pain Body loves to hold us back because it wants to cause us suffering as we replay painful experiences from the past over and over again. We need to learn to become aware of the pain body in us by seeing it for what it really is.

Another supplier of the pain body can be the media. Some writers and especially news stations love to tell stories of violence and pain. Of course, not all violent movies are from the pain body if they can show how through pain we can overcome and stretch beyond limitation. Burt there are programs written by the pain body, identification with pain from the past, for the pain body of others. The audience then watches these and feeds the pain body which affects our relationships with others and more importantly the present moment.

Quote from Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth: I Am Life

I thought I would share a bit from my new favorite book "A New Earth". I am reading it for the second time and came across this very elegantly written quote by Eckhart Tolle. It is talking about the Ego which we have been looking at this week in the blogs. I like it because it helps us to see another dimension to life beyond what is physical. Eckhart cleverly writes about how we can get caught up in identification with our minds and forget that we are one with all life. We are the same as one another. This is from page 128..
"There is no such thing as "my life", and I don't have a life. Iam life. I and life are one. It cannot be otherwise. So how could I lose my life? How can I lose something that I don't have in the first place? How can I lose something that I Am? It is impossible."

Definately recommend reading A New Earth. It can help you to gain more peace in your life as you awaken to the deep resivour of who you really are. The I Am. Being. Stillness. This is what you are created as. You are one with the creator and will all things. Let life dance through you!!!

Blending Vegetables Makes for a Healthy Meal

The following information comes from Dr. Russell Blaylock, and was taken from his May, 2008 Blaylock Report publication: "The most important health changes you can
make in life are through your diet . . . . Critical is a high intake of vegetables . . . . Vegetables contain vitamins, minerals, enzymes, fiber, and hundreds of special
disease-fighting chemicals called flavonoids. . . .

"Just eating raw vegetables is healthy, but to release these healthy chemicals for maximum absorption you have to break into the plant cells, since we do not have the
enzymes necessary to do that. Blenderizing the vegetables. . . . releases these chemicals in high concentrations so they can easily be absorbed. . . ."

Pain of Scoliosis Gone from Diet and Lifestyle Change

"I have had scoliosis for over 30 years and have always had tight back muscles and in
an effort to get relief would shower several times a day with very hot water, or sit in a hot tub in an effort to get some relief from the almost constant pain. Well, it has now been 9 weeks since we talked, and 9 weeks since I adopted The Diet. Guess what? 95% percent of my back pain is GONE! Other changes I have experienced in just the 9 weeks since adopting The Diet and Lifestyle include: hemorrhoids which I have suffered with for 19 years greatly diminished; old age spots are lightening; my skin is smoother, hair less gray, and I no longer require naps to get through the day."

We are All Actors: Uncovering the way We Act and Role Play in Relationships

Another way the ego manifests itself in our lives is through roles. These are ways of acting when relating to others that the ego uses to make itself bigger. This is it’s main purpose in us. If you are a student you may take on the student role and act differently towards your teacher than the rest of your class. This “acting” is the ego in you feeding you thoughts about how it is appropriate to act and what is expected of you from the teacher. So really another way to look at this that the ego in you is actually the one who is relating to the ego in the teacher. Well actually it is more like the ego’s version of what it thinks should be the ego of the teacher. At any rate this is all false and the real you is not relating. Become aware of the roles you play in life and realize that you are not the role. You are the awareness that is aware that you are playing that role.

Another common role we play is with our children. Parent and child is a problem worth looking at here. Perhaps you have a child or you plan to have one some time in the future. If you can become aware, you may see that your ego has built a role in that relationship too. Of course it is important to care for the child’s needs and guide them, but these are functions, they are not defining roles. It can be a great benefit to the relationship to practice just being with the child. In fact, we are called human beings. We have the human part right but we struggle with the being. Our minds have made up an agenda and we must do this at this time and make sure they are being productive, etc. Practice being in the relationship with children. This will help how they relate to you as a being as well as a human. You will cease to be parent and will be equal. This is what the child really needs from you. To be loved is to see yourself in another person.

One of the most powerful breakthroughs to be made in the awareness of the ego in you is in the workplace. Weather it be on the stage or in class, we are mostly looking out for number one. The truth is, however, that if we can align ourselves with the source of who we are, which is the same as everyone else, we may find a much more powerful realm of existence where we are all equal and are all working together. In our culture it is subliminally taught through media that we must try to be better than others and that we must keep ourselves distant from the competition. So for us to be “the best” at anything means that hundreds or thousands of people have to fail. That doesn’t see very nice. If we had a class or cast of performers who work, share, and learn together, the possibilities of growth would be endless. The universe would then bend over backwards to help us. Jobs may come out of nowhere. New and exciting skills could be introduced. Try and be aware of how your ego is holding you back at work.

Exploring the Ego further.

At times in our classes or performances we may find ourselves complaining. This is the ego creeping up in us. The ego is never satisfied and always wants something more that what is in the present moment. If we can become aware that complaining is the ego, then we can move beyond that to a recognition that all things are meant to be and that the present moment is all that is important.

The ego can also show itself in the need to feel superior to others. This is very prevalent in the competitive nature of the dance world. This may seem contradictory to everything you have heard about trying to be number one in all you do and in some cases people will do what ever means necessary to get there. But really the future is simply a thought in our mind. Chasing after what the ego wants can sometimes cause suffering to those around us. In fact to be “the best” at anything means that you are relying on thousands or millions of others to fail. True happiness and fulfillment can come from the peace of the acceptance of the present moment.

This quality of the ego will also affect the way that we relate to others. If we are striving to be famous we are striving to live in a make believe world in where we only exist. We may relate to others but usually only to gain something from them to help ourselves. What may seem like a nice gesture to invite a friend out for a drink is perhaps our motive is to find out some of their contacts and use them to get jobs and such. Being famous and the need to be superior are all signs that the ego is at work. It would be a good idea to pay attention to this and recognize it for what it is.

Ego and the Voice in the Head.

Have you ever noticed for a moment that we have a voice in our head? Perhaps you have seen what you may call a “crazy person” who sits at a bus stop and talks to themselves. Actually this person isn’t really that crazy after all. The only difference between them and you is that they verbalize the voice in their head. But we all have it.

This voice is not really who we are. These are simply thoughts in our head. They are what is called the content of our mind. Our thoughts of the past or future is the stuff that makes up what we think. The content of our mind works through the structure of our mind. The structure of the mind is built up from the experiences of our past. How we were conditioned by parents, guardians, teachers, etc.

The interesting thing is that most people all over the world have the same voice in the head. And most people think this is a part of who they are. When the voice says my house, my car or my body, we are identifying with the things of our life. Since we are not things, we are then identifying with false sense of who we are. This creates a problem for anyone no matter what religion, race, or gender you are. It is a universal problem and when seen for what it is, can actually unite people instead of creating war and division. We will call this problem the “EGO”. It is both personal (in you) and universal (in everyone).

Yvone witnesses Cancerous Lump in Breast Dissapear in only Two Weeks from Diet Change

'On February 14, 2008 I found a lump in my armpit. I was
hoping it was just a swollen lymph node, but as the lump
got bigger, I became more concerned. I made an appointment
with the ob/gyn and on March 31, 2008 received the news
that the lump was a large mass. He recommended going to a
surgical oncologist immediately. I walked out of this
office in a daze because those are the dreaded words no
woman wants to hear. After starting back on The Diet,
I thought it was my imagination at first as I checked the
mass each day, but each day it seemed to be getting a
little smaller. Just 2 weeks after the diet change, I
couldn't find it at all, and on May 6, 2008 the surgical
oncologist was quite surprised to not be able to find it at
all either. He sent me for an ultrasound and the technician
couldn't find it, while the Radiologist was so dismayed
about it not being there that she came into the room to see
if she could feel it. Then she said she couldn't explain
why it wasn't there, because the notes my doctor had
written, and as big as it was, it should still be there -
and it was only a month since the diagnosis and the
doctor's notes had been written. I was lump free in 2 weeks!"

Feel the Force: Instruction on Quieting the Mind to Feel Inner Peace

Try to see if you can feel the inner boy during meditation This will help to get out of the mind or thinking and into the body. When feeling the inner body, you are feeling who you truly are which is not what you think. Thinking creates identification with form or a set of ideas and beliefs conditioned by the past. It is an illusion of who you are because it is something the mind makes up. Getting from the head to the body will give you the sense of peace "that passes all understanding". The mind creates anxiety and stress not the consciousness that is who you are in the body.

In meditation, start with being aware of the breath and see if you can feel the inner body. Start with your hands. You could ask yourself "How do I know I have hands?". But instead of thinking about the answer, just try to feel it. At first you may sense some tingly sensations and this is the inner body . .. really who you are. Add some more body parts and then eventually you may be able to sense the whole body as one still energy field. I have noticed in my meditation that my mind was saying. "I can't feel anything". I was conscious enough to realize that this is exactly what I was supposed to feel.

The mind will try to find the answers to new sensations, but the still, quiet peace found in mediation is what you are looking for. You cannot think it or create it with your mind. It can only be felt. This reminds me of the teachings of the young Jedi in Star Wars movies. You have to feel the force move through you!!!

Have a Happy Healthy Day.

Natural Raw Burrito Roll-Ups Recipe

Burrito Roll-Ups are: a whole grain tortilla, chopped spinach, finely grated carrots, green onions and salsa. (Mashed avocado can also be spread on the tortilla before adding vegetables.) I know it sounds kind of weird, but it is actually very good and fixes up quickly if you have the spinach already pre-packaged and washed. ENJOY!”

Helpful Hints to Stay Healthy Eating Out at Resturaunt

If a vegan resturant cannot be found or you are invited to a part that you have not chosen the restaurant, remembering these tips can help you stay healthy.

* 90% of restaurants have a house salad or a variation of some sort of salad. Try to include a salad in the meal. Stake houses and other buffets also sometimes have a salad bar. You could always order one of the featured salads less the meat. A good idea is to always have dressing on the side and prefferabley a vinegerette dressing.

* Try having an appetizer as a main course after the salad. Also look for the section of the menu that says "sides". There are usually selections of seasonal veggies or a baked potato.

* Try to save drinking until after the meal in order to digest the food properly.

* Remember most desserts are full of sugar and animal products. If you have something like an apple pie, ask them to hold the ice cream.

* Have a happy Healthy Day!!!

Izze Pops : Alternative to Coke, Soda Pops, and Soft Drinks

Yesterday I wrote about the dangers of coke but I'm not going to leave you with just the bad. The good news is that Izze sodas are completely natural and are perfectly fine for you. Of course you wouldn't want to have three or four a day. They do contain sugars in fruits and too much of any kind of sugar can be bad for the system. But these pops are completely sugar free.. non of that artificial sugar so it is the perfect alternative. Izze pops are just fruit concentrate and water. You can find Izze Pops in your local health food store and they come in many different flavours.

Watch out for Health Warnings on Cans of Coke. The next Cigarette!!

Perhaps coke and other soda pops will become the next "cigarette". It wouldn't be a surprise to see the same labels that warn us about the dangers in nicotine showing up on cans of cola. Cola is a toxic to the system because if the huge amounts of refined sugar it provides. This can cause all kinds of breakdowns in the body including a suppression of our self healing immune system. Try to stay away from pops that have caffeine and lots of sugar. A good alternative is IZZE natural fruit drinks. They have no sugar at all besides the natural occurring sugar in the various fruit selections they offer.
Have a happy healthy day.

Take Control of your Health. Live The Best Quality of Life

Vacation part 2 is now coming to a close and it has been like night and day as far as health is concerned. We are in a small town where the awareness of health is just a dim light. It is mostly made up of retired people who are set in their ways about eating and living. This has caused angry feelings in my body through out the week but culminated last night in a conversation with my dad. That led me to write about this once again.
Dad and I were discussing a couple of close friends that had either died or suffered painful strokes or anurisms. I felt sympathy towards these people but what really got me going was that my dad's response was "Really gotta live for today". Now generally I would commend such a statement and would actually encourage that to live for the moment. However, in this conversation this seemed like another ignorant remark disregarding any notion that the disease these people suffered and died from had anything to do with their health.
Around ninety percent of physical problems leading to death are induced by the foods we eat and the lifestyle we live. I am so shocked when I hear people like dad give no recognition that diet and lifestyle has anything to do with it. I have come to realize that people are very set in their ways and that the culture of the past generation has pointed to other things to sustain health. Unfortunately most of us know that this is not working. Where is the cure for cancer, aids, and so on? And things are just getting worse. I would have thought that if someone close to me dies to cancer or heart attack that I would take a look at my life.
Perhaps some people think that is just the way it is. Perhaps because most of all deaths are caused by cancer and heart conditions, it just seems to people common place. But there is a sense of helplessness in the air and that just isn't true.
You can take control of your health, you can decide the quality of life. You may not be able to know when you die but we do have control, to some extent, of the quality of life we have before we die. And chances are we will live and enjoy life longer and have a more peaceful death.
My grandmother just died last month and although it was sort of peaceful, I know that the last few months (and years for that matter) were quite painful. We don't have to live like that. The benchmark of the Hallelujiah Acres company is based on this one quote. "YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE SICK".

Steps to Peaceful Meditation

This can help to relax the mind and body.
A relaxed state of stillness is a great way to start the day and make decisions in your life. Becoming aware of who you are beyond your thoughts can be very empowering.

* Find a quiet place where you cannot be disturbed. Sit in a chair or cross-legged on the a cushion on the floor. Close your eyes.
* Become aware of your breathing. The rush of air in and out of the nose. Be aware of how the chest rises up and down with each breath.
* If thoughts arise this is perfectly normal. Congrats you are meditating. Instead of fighting the thoughts or giving into them and thinking more about it, simply be aware of the thought. Acknowledge is presence and then turn awareness back to the breath.
* If you find that you are thinking about something for a few seconds or minutes, that is okay to. The moment you are ware that you are thinking of something is the moment you return to meditation. Again turn you attention to your breath.
* See if you can sense the inner feeling of the body. Starting with the hands. Say to yourself "How do I know I have hands?". Without thinking about it, try to feel the hands. Do this with the rest of the body and see if you can eventually feel the whole body as one energy field.
* If emotions or feelings arise feel the sensations of the feelings. Try to just feel them and not make a story or connection in your mind to a person or situation. Try not to label it as anger, fear, anxiety... If that happens return to the breath and try to sense the sensations of the feeling.
* Start with about 5 minutes a day and then you may want to work up to 20-30 minutes per day.

Q & A with Chris about diet and nutrition

I've been coresponding with Chris who is very happy to have found someone to chat with about nutrition and lifestyle. I thought I would but this on the blog as she had some great questions that I attempted to answers. Hope you like it.
===================================================
Hello again. Yes I am very excited tooo.. knowing that there are people that are health conscious is super!!
In a message dated 5/22/2008 6:38:29 A.M. Pacific Daylight Time, cschudy@yahoo.com writes:
Hi Dean! excuse me for a minute while i run around the building!! I SOOOOO know about halleujah acres!! and barley max!! and all things that they stand for (God and health and veggies). I'm glad to hear about your stand on Barley max too--in fact i just ordered some from their site last week. I thought about recommending that too my body building friend--i think you just convinced me i need to do that.
- Yes Barley is quite good for energy and repairing muscles. I hope that it goes well with your friends. I can get some for you if you would like!!
I'm so excited we are on the same page. so, here are my 20 questions (ok, maybe only a couple):
1. May I use you as a resource for information? will you help me teach others?
- I would be more than happy to help in any way I can. That is my passion right now!! To help others with health and wellness. I will soon be releasing a program called "the Power Performance Program". It is a seven lesson course that teaches optimal health. The lessons include diet, living foods, dead foods, exercise, spirituality, and many other things. I will let you know more about that when it is released.

2. Do you recommend a digestive aid for body builders? (it seems with all the powdered and other protein they try to consume, they may benefit? I myself use the product hacres has, but also, I connect with dr. robbins in Tulsa, who has a similar product)
It is important for these guys to have living enzymes in their diet to rebuild their cells. Yes Barley and especially veggie juicing will help. There is also a product called a survival bar which is totally vegan and has over 10 grams of protein in it. This product is excellent and I can get that for you as well.
The problem with most protein shakes is that they have WAY too much protein which causes havoc on the stomach and body. This protein comes mostly from animal products which lead to cancerous cells in the body. Also all the additives including vitamins and minerals are at such a high quantity that they leave deposits in the joints and bones because the body cannot assimlate all of it. This leads to osteo related problems like arthritis. Hope this helps.

3. are you a health minister? a Christian?
Yes I am a Christian and have been an health minister for over three years now. I have never felt better in all of my life. For my ministry/business, I am trying to focus on the health message as I find a lot of people won't even listen to you when you bring up religion. I think no matter what religion you are, God would want all people to live the best quality of life and enjoy the self - healing body he created. That is why I am creating my own courses and material but still use the amazing resources and products and Hallelujiah Acres.

4. where do you live?
I am currently working on board a cruise ship as an entertainer. I am Canadian and may be moving to Vancouver soon. What about you?

5. how does your family react to your eating style? I think I'm about 75% raw and i am a juice fanatic. in fact, I hope to have or help run a vegan restaurant/juice bar cafe (like hacres) someday up here in wisconsin... we totally need one here! I am a designer/art director at an ad agency now, but I am taking classes to become a natural health counselor..hopefully by this time next year,, which will hopefully lead me toward that goal.
- congrats on all your success. The world is lucky to have someone like you around. At first my family really didn't understand but I have seen changes in their diet. See the thing is that once you bring awareness, people notice that and it spreads like wildfire. No they haven't completely given up all the things I have and eat the same way but as they get older and the body starts to break down, they may become more conscious. I am super lucky to have a wife who stands by this diet and follows it with me. In fact we were trained as health ministers together. I am 29 and she is 24. I think we were the youngest couple ever to become health ministers.

6. have you ever taken any of the culinary classes at hacres?
- We had some training in our Health Minister Training. My wife is from Shelby where George Malkumus and Hallelujiah Acres is located. We may take some but I have been in the food business for a while and am very creative so we'll see.

7. what kind of dance do you coach?
- I am a professional dancer and have been for over twenty years. I trained in all styles of dance including jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, and many others. For the last ten years I have been dancing on and off cruise ships as well as performing in many musicals all over Canada. After taking the health minister course three years ago I decided I wanted to bring that into my career and try to help. It is quite challenging being on a cruise and starting something so we are planning to move to Vancouver. I am have finished writing and will soon release the Power Performance Program.

8. how do you help others nutritionally? my friend has actually asked for my input, but, fights me on the no meat issue. calls me his "nutritionist" but is cautious about the information. i kinda like the challenge because, from a health perspective, God has taught me soooo much about nutrition through people like yourself and i just can't wait to give back...
- This may be blunt but, so forgive me, but animal products are one of the most dangerous things that can be put into the body and are the leading cause of cancer, diabetes, arthritis and many more. First of all they are cooked so they provide almost no nutrients. Although they may have protein, because they are cooked, the molecular structure of the protein changes and is left pretty much unusable.
I have written about this issue on my blog.. please visit http://healthydietandoptimalliving.wordpress.com/2008/03/25/dangers-of-animal-products/
Be sure to read parts two and three as well.. Hopefully this will give you more of an idea of what animals do when in our body. I think it helps for people to really understand how their body is affected. But always remember , YOU cant change your friend. HE has to change because he is compelled to. All you can do is be there for them. In fact just being is probably the most effective strategy. People will surprise you because they notice a lot more than they let on. Keep doing what your doing. It will happen when it happens.

Pastor Wilfred Writes about Healing

"I did the diet faithfully for three straight months, and while on the diet
my arthritis disappeared, as did a persistent cough, I lost
weight, and even some bad cuts healed, all without any
medication. Sadly, after experiencing all these
improvements in my health, I went back to my traditional
habits of eating, and my arthritis came back, and I am now
obese. Since originally making the diet change I have
refrained myself from eating meat because every time I ate
it my arthritis got worse, but I never associated my
continuing arthritis pain with my consuming cow milk. I
always thought cow milk to be healthy. I have been a heavy
drinker of cow milk, until I read in last week's Health Tip
that 'Milk Does the Body BAD'."

Scientist are finally Getting a Clue

An article caught my eye the other day in the Globe and Mail. The American Society of Clinical Oncology released that a lack of the Sunshine vitamin is linked to Breast Cancer. It thought that was quite funny, not the breast cancer of course, but that I just wrote about that in my blog a few days ago. And I'm just a simple whole food eating nutrition nut.
What we really need to understand is that anything natural and organic is the best way to receive the vitamins that we need. THE ONLY Natural way to receive vitamin D is from the sun. So why aren't people getting enough. Because the doctors have been telling us to lather on the sun screen. Not only does that block the sun's UV rays but it also puts harmful chemicals into our body leading to cancerous cells.
So it is good to know that some people in the medical profession are getting a clue. It makes me laugh thought that 20 years of education and research as well as billions of dollars are spent to come up with a realization like this. This is not rocket science here. We need to awaken to what we are doing to our bodies. Cancer doesn't just attack us cause we are "the next in line" or because "my mom or dad had it". WE CAUSE CANCER BY WHAT WE EAT AND PUT INTO OUR BODIES!!!

Exciting Health in Victoria BC

My wife and I are now on our last day of a wonderful vacation in Beautiful Victoria, BC. I'm writing about this because we were surprised and excited to discover that Victoria is a very health conscious city. It is a fairly small place but there are a handful of healthy restaurants, stores and cafes. One of our favorites was "The Green Cuisine". It has 100% vegan buffet and food including organic salad bar, burgers, hot food, deserts and even coffee latte alternatives. Very Cool. If you are looking for a great spot to vacation and not have to worry about finding a decent place to eat, Victoria is the place to be.
Have a Happy Healthy Day!

Oxygen Part III

If oxygen levels to the brain increase so will mental alertness. This can be achieved through exercise or deep breathing. Conversely, if oxygen levels to the brain are decreased, life has little chance of surviving more than a few minutes.
Increasing oxygen to the blood cells helps the body feel more energetic and alive. This is vital to the healthy dancer in regards to performance. If the supply of oxygen is decreased feelings of sluggishness will creep in.
Another importance to the life of a healthy dancer is increased oxygen causes happy and optimistic emotions. Without a decent supply of oxygen the mind could feel discouraged and even depressed.
Pumping up the level of oxygen into our bodies creates and environment when sickness can find no home. Disease cannot survive in a well oxygenated aerobic environment. The above few paragraphs have shown benefits of increasing oxygen levels in the body and this is done through the form of exercise.

Smoking and Oxygen in the Body

One way that the supply of oxygen can be cut off is in the presence of a smoke filled room. The lungs will fill with smoke and the body will gasp for air. The body will cry out for fresh air or will quickly perish.

A smoker slowly cuts off the oxygen supply to the body. Gradually the lungs will be coated with tar from the cigarette. Over long periods of time, the lungs will begin to look like the inside of a dirty chimney, full of soot and ash. As the build up continues the amount of air intake into the lungs decreases until the very last breath.

Furthermore, smoking will bring toxic carbon monoxide into the body which is the same gas found in automobile exhaust. After entering the body it mixes with hemoglobin in the blood and restrains the oxygen carrying capacity. The heart will then pump much faster to make up for that restrain, blood vessels are constricted, circulation becomes poor, and much more. It is vital to a healthy dancer that smoking be stopped and life enjoyed.

Importance of Oxygen

From the time a baby enters the world, the first need of it’s precious body is met. Oxygen fills it’s lungs as it breathes it’s first breath. Of course, this continues to be the most important need in life and one of two main topics in this lesson.

All that needs to be done to see the importance of oxygen is to cut off it’s supply for just a few minutes. Life can remain without food for a few weeks, without water for a few days, but only a few minutes without oxygen. The continual process of in taking life and breathing out carbon dioxide fills the trillions of cells with life.

The length of human life depends on the quality of air that is breathed in. Air can determine the level of health that is attained though out life. More facts about how oxygen is vital will be presented shortly but a look at the harmful affects of bad air needs some attention.

Stuffed Cucumbers

Wash thoroughly or peel cucumbers, cut in half lengthwise and carefully remove the seeds. On a plate make a nice bed of greens, place cucumber on top.
Chop the cucumber hearts together with any of the following:
1 - 2 Tablespoons celery, chopped fine
1 - 2 Tablespoons carrot, grated
2 Tablespoons tomato, chopped into small pieces
1 - 2 Tablespoons raw almond butter
Mix in enough nut butter to hold it together and fill the cucumber halves. Note: You may change the "stuffing" by simply adding your favorite veggies or by adding herbs such as 1 Tablespoon minced parsley.
